"In 1957, after two years of research, General Foods Corporation first launched Tang powdered beverage in the US in test markets. Tang was introduced in Canada and Venezuela in 1959, and in Great Britain and Peru in 1961.
The brand’s biggest claim to fame was as a passenger on board manned space flights. The Gemini 4 astronauts were the first to bring Tang along on their mission in 1965. In fact, a special drink dispenser was designed for Tang for the mission. The brand continued crossing atmospheric borders over the ensuing 10 years, during which it was served on all manned Gemini and Apollo space flights.
Today, more than 10 percent of Tang business comes from the US, where the brand is available in both powdered and ready-to-drink formats. Most Tang drinkers in the US are “tweens,” children aged nine to 12.
While there are many different taste preferences for Tang around the globe, Kraft researchers have found that consumers’ perceptions of the brand are quite similar across all markets: Tang is a symbol of a mother’s love for her family. "

Since my birth I have had a love for the sweet goodness of Tang. Most recently since my desire for change included giving up Dr. Pepper and eliminating it from my life, I returned to the orangy love that has been blessing my tastebuds for 36 years. Now officially I can say I once again am showing the symbol of true love for my family..now if I could just get my hands on the special astonaut drink dispenser.....

Way to give up the DP, Nan. I used to drink a can of soda every day cause I love it so much and then I stopped. Not loving soda, just drinking it every day. Now I only have it once or twice a week. Mayhap someday I'll be able to leave it behind forever. Until then, please read this story and enjoy:
Once there was a trumpet. It was well used, old and battered. somebody put it in a bucket with a bunch of other trumpets and no matter how hard it tried to get out, the other trumpets would pull it back down into the bucket. This continued until somebody pulled the trumpet from the bucket and played a beautiful heart-rending tune on it. Then everybody in the world started bidding on the trumpet and it sold, at last, for 8 million dollars. I know this story is true. Amen.
I know that trumpet!
I too have given up DP. Once in awhile I'll have one as a treat, to spoil myself.
Amen.
I have given up people that don't drink DP. It's medicinal, you know. It's in the name. And the new kind has 24 vitamins!
I have been told that Dr. Pepper is a good stool softener...
Oh? What does that say about us, since we don't drink it.
